Numeric Solver App

How do I solve a quadratic equation with the numeric solver?

The numeric "Solver" feature is limited to solving for only one solution at a time. Since there are two solutions for a quadratic equation, two different guesses must be entered into the solver to find both solutions. After finding the first solution, enter a new initial guess or new bounds to look for the second solution.

Note: the numeric solver will only return real solutions. If complex solutions exist, only the real solutions are returned.

Follow the steps below to solve the example equation: x2=5x-6.

1.    Press n b C.

2.    Once you see the two boxes, E1 and E2, press in E1.

3.    Press the down arrow key to E2 and press 5X−6.

4.    Select NEXT by pressing the h key.

5.    Notice that the equation is now written.

6.    Input the first guess next to x=.

7.    Press b = to select "SOLVE" and the first answer will appear.

Input a second guess next to x=

8.    Press b = to select "SOLVE" and the second answer will appear if the guess is sufficiently close to the second answer.
