Numeric Solver App -  Introduction To

The Numeric Solver App is a helpful tool for solving algebra problems and double-checking work. Enter an equation with one unknown, and the calculator will solve for the unknown variable.

For an introduction to the Numeric Solver App, see the examples below.

Solving equations using numerical solver

Open the Numeric Solver App by pressing the Numeric Solver icon  or by pressing n b C and enter expressions into E1: and E2: following the steps below.

Example: Solve 4(2W+3) = \(1/2\) (-4W+9)
To Solve:

1.   Enter an equation as expression 1=expression 2 (E1=E2).
You may enter more than one variable, but you will have to select one variable to solve. The other variables used will take on the value stored in the calculator.

2.   Input into E1: the left side of the equation 4(2W+3).

3.   Press =.

4.   Input into E2: the right side of the equation \(1/2\) (-4W+9)

5.   Press =.

6.   W=-0.75

7.   Select [SOLVE] by pressing the h key. Here, there is only one solution, X=-2.

8.   Check your solution. The calculator checks the solution it generated. The difference between the two sides of your equation evaluated at the calculated solution displays as E1-E2.
