About the Lesson
This TI-Nspire™ lesson uses a unit square to explore division of a unit fraction and a fraction in general by a whole number. By observing the partitioning of unit squares students experience a visual representation of the process. Students use the relationship between division and multiplication to solve problems involving dividing fractions by whole numbers.
Students should be familiar with the terms unit square, equivalent fraction, improper fraction, and mixed number covered in earlier activities.
