Limits of Rational Functions

Activity Overview

In this activity, students will use limit notation and intercepts to describe rational functions given in analytic form for a partner to sketch a graph.

About the Lesson

This activity involves exploring features of the graphs of rational functions and their characteristics, such as:

End behavior asymptotes
Behavior near vertical asymptotes
Students should be able to use the TI-84 or TI-Nspire CX to verify these features of a rational function.
