Solution 11691: Adjusting the Contrast on a TI Graphing Calculator.

How do I adjust the contrast on a TI graphing calculator?

If the screen of the graphing calculator is very dark (as if all the pixels are turned on) or very dim (as if the unit is turned off), the contrast may need to be adjusted. The instructions below will demonstrate how to adjust the contrast of the screen.

To adjust the contrast on a TI-73 Explorer™, TI-80, TI-81, TI-82, TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire™ handheld in TI-84 Plus mode, TI-85 or TI-86:

1) Press and release [ON].
2) Press and release [2nd].
3) Press and hold the down arrow (to lighten) or up arrow (to darken). (The up and down directional arrows are located in the top right corner of the graphing calculator).

To adjust the contrast on a TI-89, TI-89 Titanium, TI-92, TI-92 Plus or Voyage 200™:

1) Press and release [ON].
2) Press and hold the green diamond key.
3) Press and hold the minus key (to lighten) or plus key (to darken).

To adjust the contrast on a TI-Nspire or TI-Nspire CAS:

1) Press and release [ON].
2) Alternate between the [ctrl] key and the minus key to lighten.
3) Alternate between the [ctrl] key and the plus key to darken.

If the screen still cannot be viewed correctly, see Troubleshooting a TI Graphing Calculator That Will Not Turn On.

Please see the your calculators guidebook for additional information.

Please Note: TI-Nspire handheld in TI-84 Plus mode users may refer to the TI-84 Plus family guidebook.
