No Way Around It — Pi Is Fun!

When: Tuesday, February 24, 2026 | 7 p.m. Central time
Technology:TI-84 Series, TI-Nspire™ Series
Presenters: Felicia Perez, Roxie Runnels

Pi Day is more than just eating dessert and writing digits until students’ hands cramp.

In this webinar, we’ll dig into meaningful, student-friendly Pi Day activities that go beyond the novelty and actually deepen understanding.

Participants will explore hands-on activities for:

  • Calculating pi using measurement and ratios.
  • Discovering radians through circles and arc length (without the usual confusion spiral).
  • Approximating pi using random points and probability—yes, chaos can be mathematical.
  • Investigate zeros and extreme values inspired by AP exam problems.
We’ll discuss how to implement each activity with TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculators, share classroom-ready ideas, and talk through ways to scale activities for middle and high school learners. Expect practical takeaways, minimal prep, and fun for everyone.
No baking required. Curiosity encouraged!
