HOW TO ENTER:

Take these steps before the end of the first round of the Contest, February 15, 2023, at 11:59 pm CT:

  • Form a team and select a team name (minimum of one student member and a maximum of five student members), then select an Adult Sponsor, such as a parent or teacher. The email address of the team’s Adult Sponsor must be used to participate in the Contest.
  • Click on the link for the Contest at TIcodescontest.com and review the challenge prompt. You may reach this link directly at the http://education.ti.com website or from posts on the Facebook or Twitter feeds of TI Education Technology, or posts on other Facebook and Twitter feeds, or banner advertisements on certain educator news outlets.
  • The Adult Sponsor must create a team profile by completing the appropriate online form, checkbox consent to the Official Rules on behalf of the Adult Sponsor and each team member and submit a project proposal packet, as outlined on the contest webpage. A team that submits this form with a packet is a “Team Entrant”, and the individual team members are “Entrants”. Materials submitted to the Contest (e.g., project plans, videos, or other submissions) by Team Entrants are “Entries” (individually an “Entry”).

 CONTEST ROUNDS AND JUDGING CRITERIA:

  • Round 1: The first round of the Contest involves the submission of the team profile and completion of the Project Plan Packet on the TICodesContest.com website. A group of TI judges (“Judges”) will use the rubric in the Project Plan Packet to evaluate all Project Plan submissions. Up to 10 top-scoring teams will advance to Round 2.

  • Round 2: The teams advancing to the second round of the Contest will each receive one Supply Kit to build their model. A Supply Kit includes: (i) a TI-84 Plus CE Python, or a TI-Nspire CX II graphing calculator (team may choose), (ii) a TI-Innovator Hub and BBC micro:bit (iii) TI-Innovator Hub Accessories (Breadboard Pack, I/O Modules, Ultrasonic Ranger Module, and External Battery), and (iv) a $50 Visa gift card to purchase miscellaneous supplies for building the model. Teams will build their model and create a video, less than 90 seconds in length, to show their model and explain their Project. Videos must be uploaded to a public YouTube account and a link emailed to codescontest@ti.com by April 11, 2023*, at 11:59 pm CT. YouTube Terms of Service and related policies and guidelines may apply to you. The Judges will select 10 teams to advance to the final round. Judges will evaluate team videos based on these criteria: (1) successful functionality of the model (35%), (2) use of TI technology (30%), (3) visual appearance of the model (10%), (4) explanation and description of the model (10%), and (5) creativity of the video (15%).

  • Round 3: Up to five team videos advancing to the final round will be placed on the Contest webpage. Anyone with access to the internet may vote for any video once during the voting round between April 26, 2023*, at 9:01 am CT and May 2, 2023*, at 11:59 pm CT. The team with a video receiving the most votes at the end of Round 3 will receive the Grand Prize. The teams with videos receiving the second and third highest votes will receive the Runners-Up Prize. If any tie occurs in the public voting, the Judges will break the tie based on the most heavily weighted criteria specified above (i.e., functionality of the model).
