How do I find the zero of a function using the TI-Nspire CAS and TI-Nspire CX CAS handhelds?

To find the zero of a function, without graphing using the TI-Nspire CAS and TI-Nspire CX CAS handhelds, the zero command will need to be used. Please refer to the following example.

For Example: Find the zero of the function: 2x^2+2x-4

1) Press [home] [1] [1] to insert a new calculator application.



2) Press [catalog] [1] [Z].
3) Select zeros( .



4) Press [enter].
5) Input [2] [x] [x2] [+] [2] [x] [-] [4] [,] [x].



6) Press [enter].
7) The answer is {-2,1}.
