How do I convert degrees/minutes/seconds (DMS) to decimal format using the TI-Nspire family handheld and computer software?
To convert from degree/minutes/seconds to decimal format (and vice versa) using the TI-Nspire family handheld and computer software, follow the example below.
Example: 52°12'10.8":
1) Press [home] and scroll down to Calculator Application and press [enter]. You may also press [A] to insert a scratchpad.
2) Press [5] [2] [catalog] [1] [Z].
3) Scroll down until ° is displayed.
4) Press [enter].
5) Press [1] [2] [catalog].
6) Press [▼] [▼] [▼].
7) Press [enter].
8) Press [1] [0] [.] [8].
9) Press [catalog] [enter] [catalog] [enter].
To convert the displayed value back to degrees/minutes/seconds format:
1) Press [5] [2] [.] [2] [0] [3].
2) Press [catalog] [D] and scroll down until [►DMS] is selected.
3) Press [enter] [enter].
