Solution 12710: Entering Numbers in Scientific Notation on a Scientific Calculator.

How do I enter a number in scientific notation on a scientific calculator?

Use the Enter Exponent or [EE] key to enter numbers in scientific notation. The [EE] key is used to denote x10 for numbers written in scientific notation.

For example: To enter 6.024 x 1025 in scientific notation

Press [6] [.] [0] [2] [4] [EE] [2] [5] Enter or =

The display will show 6.024E25.

For example: To enter 1.34 x 1015 in scientific notation

Press [1] [.] [3] [4] [EE] [1] [5] Enter or =

The display will show 1.34E15.

Please Note: The TI-30XS MultiView™ scientific calculators do not have an [EE] key. Instead they have a shortcut key, [x10n] which can be used in its place.
