Solution 12703: Multiplication and Division of Numbers in Scientific Notation Using a One-Line Scientific Calculator.

How do I multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation using a one-line scientific calculator?

The following examples demonstrate how to multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation using a one-line display scientific calculator. Use the Enter Exponent or [EE] key to enter numbers in scientific notation. The [EE] Key is used to denote x10 for numbers written in scientific notation.

Example:
Multiply (6.024 x 10^25) x (1.34 x 10^15).

• Input 6.024, press the [EE] key and input 25.
• Press the [x] key.
• Input 1.34, press the [EE] key and input 15.
• Press the [ENTER] key.

The answer is 8.07216E40

Example:
Divide (8.02 x 10^-25) / (6.022 x 10^23).

• Input 8.02, press the [EE] key and press the [(-)] key then input 25.
• Press the division key.
• Input 6.022, press the [EE] key and input 23.
• Press the [ENTER] key.

The answer is 1.33178E-48.
