Solution 12328: Calculating Logarithms Using the TI-30Xa Family or TI-34.

How do I calculate logarithms using a TI-30Xa, TI-30Xa Solar, TI-30Xa SE, or TI-34?

The examples below will demonstrate how to compute logarithms (BASE 10) on the TI-30Xa, TI-30Xa SE, or TI-34.

Examples:

To find the log of 100:

1) Press [1] [0] [0] [LOG].
The calculator will display 2.

To find the log of 35:

1) Press [3] [5] [LOG].
The calculator will display 1.544068044.

To find the log of 73:

1) Press [7] [3] [LOG].
The calculator will display 1.86332286.

To calculate logarithms with a base different than 10, you may use the following workaround:

For example, to calculate the log base 4 of 160

1) Input [160] Press [LOG].
2) Press [÷].
3) Input [4] Press [LOG].
4) Press [=] to complete the calculation.
The calculator will display 3.6609.
