Solution 12300: Calculating 2-Variable Statistics on the TI-36X Solar Scientific Calculator.

How do I compute 2-variable statistics on the TI-36X Solar?

To perform 2-variable statistics on the TI-36X Solar scientific calculator, please refer to the example provided below.

X: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
Y: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30

Example: First, the values will need to be input:

1) Press [3rd] [STAT 2]  to enter two variable STAT mode.
2) Press [2nd] [CSR] to clear statistical data.
3) Press [2], [x<>y], [6], [S+].
4) Press [4], [x<>y], [12], [S+].
5) Press [6], [x<>y], [18], [S+].
6) Press [8], [x<>y], [24], [S+].
7) Press [10], [x<>y], [30], [S+].

Calculate the variables:

To display the mean of y:

1) Press [2nd], [y].
The answer is 18

To display the sample standard deviation of y:

1) Press [2nd], [sxn-1].
The answer is 3.16227766

To enter x' to predict y':

1) Input 2.5, [2nd], [y'].
The answer is 7.5
