Solution 12272: Computing One-Variable Statistics Using the TI-34.

How do I compute one-variable statistics using the TI-34?

The following example will demonstrate how to compute one-variable statistics using the TI-34.

Example: Find the sum, mean, population standard deviation, and sample standard deviation for the data set: {45, 55, 55, 55, 60, 80}.

• Press [MODE] [5] to enter the statistics mode.
• Input 45, then press [Sigma +] to save the point.
• Input 55, then [Sigma +].
• Input 55, then [Sigma +].
• Input 55, then [Sigma +].
• Input 60, then [Sigma +].
• Input 80, then [Sigma +].
• Press the [2nd] key, then [1] to calculate the sum.

The answer is 350.

• Press the [2nd] key, then [4] to calculate the mean.

The answer is 58.33333333.

• Press the [2nd] key, then [6] to calculate the population standard deviation (n weighting).

The answer is 10.67187373.

• Press the [2nd] key, then [5] to calculate the sample standard deviation (n - 1 weighting).

The answer is 11.69045194.
