How can a binary number be converted into a decimal on a TI-86?

Once the mode on theTI-85 or TI-86 has been changed to degree, a binary number can then be converted into a decimal.

To change the mode, follow the procedures below: 

1) Press [2nd] then [MODE].
2) Press the down arrow until the cursor is blinking on Dec.
3) Press the right arrow to select Bin.
4) Press [ENTER] then press [CLEAR] to clear the display.

To convert a binary number into a decimal, follow the steps below:

1) Press [2nd], [BASE], then [F2].
2) Type in the binary number that needs to be converted.
3) Press [F1].
4) Press [2nd] then [F3].
5) Press [F4] to choose Dec.
6) Press [ENTER].

Example: Convert 1001 into 9.

1) Press [2nd], [BASE], then [F2].
2) Type in 1001.
3) Press [F1]. 1001b should be displayed.
4) Press [2nd] then [F3].
5) Press [F4] to choose Dec.
6) Press [ENTER].

The dispalyed answer should show as 9.
