Solution 11262: Different P/Y and C/Y Settings on the BA II PLUS™ PROFESSIONAL and BA II PLUS™ Financial Calculators.
Why was the P/Y and C/Y setting changed from 12 on the BA II PLUS to 1 on the BA II PLUS PROFESSIONAL?
The P/Y and C/Y default setting was changed from 12 on the BA II PLUS to 1 on the BA II PLUS PROFESSIONAL at the request of finance professors that were consulted during the development of the new calculator.To manually set the P/Y and C/Y setting on the BA II PLUS PROFESSIONAL or BA II PLUS, follow the steps provided below:
1) Press [2ND] [P/Y].
2) Set P/Y to 1 for annual payments or 12 for monthly payments by pressing [1] or [1] [2] and pressing [ENTER] (This also sets the C/Y (Compounding Periods) to the same setting).
3) Press [2ND] [QUIT].
Please Note: Once the P/Y and C/Y setting has been changed to the desired number, it will not return to the default (1) unless the calculator is reset or [2ND] [CLR WORK] is pressed while on the P/Y setting screen. There is no need to use either one of those two clearing methods when working with the Time Value of Money (TVM) register. If [2ND] [CLR TVM] is pressed, the N, I/Y, PV, PMT and FV registers will clear but the P/Y C/Y setting will remain unchanged.
