Vernier - Exploring Magnetism

Activity Overview

In this lesson, students will investigate the relationship between the orientation of the sensor and the strength of the magnetic field.

Objectives

  • Students will investigate the response of a magnetic field sensor in the presence of a magnet under various conditions.
  • Students will investigate the relationship between the orientation of the sensor and the strength of the magnetic field.

About the Lesson

In this experiment, students will explore magnetism and the fact that no matter their shape, each magnet has two regions called the north and south poles.  Students will use the Vernier Magnetic Field Sensor.
