Science: Vernier - Microscale Acid-Base Titration

by Vernier Software & Technology

Overview

In this activity, students' will use a pH sensor to determine the change in pH during a titration of a known concentration of NaOH and unknown concentration of HCl. Students' will determine the concentration of unknown HCl.

Key Steps

  • Image

The pH sensor is used to make a graph of the pH of sodium hydroxide as the volume of added hydrochloric acid is increased.

  • Image

The first derivative can be examined to determine the equivalence point.
