Approximation of Pi Using Statistical Testing

Activity Overview

Students will use a Monte Carlo method to collect data. This data, along with an area model of pi, will be used to approximate pi.

Before the Activity

Students should have a general knowledge of statistical testing.

During the Activity

Students can either collect data on their own, as a class, or a combination of both.

After the Activity

Review student results:

As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
