Next Steps with the TI-84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator in High School Mathematics

This workshop is designed for mathematics educators teaching high school mathematics who want to learn to leverage TI-84 Plus CE technology to engage students in the learning process.

Educators will explore a variety of topics of the high school curriculum, discuss strategies for helping students to better understand key topics and emphasize techniques for teaching with TI-84 Plus CE technology. By the end of the workshop, participants should feel comfortable with:

  • Classroom strategies for using the graphing calculator and its powerful features, including computations; graphing of functions, lists and tables; statistics and probability; and geometry to enhance student learning
  • The most-used apps included with the TI-84 Plus CE, and activities for using them in the classroom
  • Using TI-Smartview™ CE emulator software as a teacher tool to enrich the student learning environment
  • Managing the memory and file storage of the graphing calculator

This workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. The two- and three-day workshops offer more extensive exploration of topics and strategies.

  • Learning features of the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator and related TI-Smartview™ software
  • Exploration of key topics such as: linear equations, data collection and scatter plots, modeling data, inequalities and linear programming, parallel lines and transversals
  • Coverage of classroom strategies such as orchestrating effective discussion, anticipating, sequencing, etc.
  • Additional features are covered of the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator and related TI-Smartview™ software and TI Connect™ software
  • Coverage of further topics such as quadratics, quadratic regression, modeling with images, data collection and temperature probes, and exponential functions
  • Exploration of additional classroom strategies to engage students in learning
  • Continued application and consolidation of TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator classroom strategies
  • Content topics will extend to probability simulations, circle geometry, transformations of functions and an introduction to coding
