Workshop overview

This workshop is designed for educators who are interested in TI-84 Plus CE technology in the mathematics classroom and want an introduction to coding in the context of high school mathematics.

Learn a wide range of TI-84 Plus CE technology skills so that you’ll be comfortable with graphing, tables and lists, as well as other applications of the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator. Also, you will be introduced to basic coding for your students, building upon the lessons from TI’s 10 Minutes of Code. We will cover key principles including logic, selection statements and loops.

Day one of the workshop will include an:

  • Overview of the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, including general calculator, graphing and statistical functionality
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons and online resources for algebra I, geometry, algebra II, precalculus, calculus and statistics
  • Introduction to TI-84 Plus CE teacher software

During day two of this workshop, participants will learn to:

  • Use the TI-Basic program editor to create and run programs
  • Use simple editing features to insert and delete entries or lines of code
  • Evaluate expressions and store them as variables
  • Recognize programing features including conditions, relational operators, logical operators, and simple and compound conditions
  • Perform the basic steps for debugging a simple program

  • TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator and TI-SmartView™ CE emulator software for the TI-84 Plus graphing family
