How can I graph an inequality containing the absolute value on the TI-83 Plus family, TI-84 Plus family, or TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode?

The instructions below demonstrate how to input and graph the abs( or absolute value function using the TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family or TI-Nspire handheld in TI-84 Plus mode.

 Example: Graph |2x+3|>9

• Press [Y=]
• Press [MATH]
• Scroll right to highlight NUM and select 1:abs(

• Input 2x+3. Arrow out past the absolute value equation, press [2nd] then [Test] and select > press [Enter]

• Press [Graph] and the graph below should be displayed.
