Solution 10125: Fixing the Error Message Install Shield Engine (ikernal.exe) could not be launched. Class not registered.
How can I fix the error message Install Shield Engine (ikernal.exe) could not be launched when installing TI InterActive!?The error message Install Shield Engine (ikernal.exe) could not be launched appears when the Install Shield file (ikernel.exe) has been removed from the computer since the last install of an older version of the TI InterActive! software (version 1.0 or 1.1). The file can be removed a number of ways, however, it was most likely removed when the Norton AntiVirus™ software mistakenly deleted the ikernel.exe during the Nimda virus scare.
To fix this problem, there must be a valid ikernel.exe file on the computer. For more instructions on how to restore this file, please visit InstallShield Professional Engine Update. Delete the Intel 32 directory (step 1) and click link to "Download the ikernel engine update (single executable)" and run ikernel update installer (step 2) to restore the ikernel engine.
After it is restored, proceed to install the TI InterActive! software. The Install Shield error message should not re-appear.
The TI InterActive! software has now been updated to version 1.3, which uses a Wise installer. This version of the software will not generate the Install Shield error during installation.
