Solution 12271: Performing Polar and Rectangular Angle Conversions on TI-30Xa Family Scientific Calculators.

How do I perform polar and rectangular angle conversions on TI-30Xa family calculators?

The following examples will demonstrate how to perform polar and rectangular angle conversions on TI-30Xa family calculators:

Example: Convert rectangular coordinates (10,8) to polar.

• Press the [DRG] key (if necessary) until the degree 'DEG' indicator is in the display.
• Input 10, then press [2nd] [p] key, then input 8.
• Press [2nd] [ - ] (displays r). The screen should read: DEG r 12.80624847
• Press [2nd] [p] (to display q). The screen should read: DEG 38.65980825

Example: Convert polar coordinates (5 angle 30°) to rectangular.

• Press the [DRG] key (if necessary) until the degree 'DEG' indicator is in the display.
• Input 5, press [2nd] [p], then input 30.
• Press [2nd] [X] (displays x). The screen should read: DEG x 4.330127019
• Press [2nd] [p] (to display y). The screen should read: DEG 2.5
