Solution 12072: Troubleshooting an ER_throw Error Message on the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family or Voyage™ 200 Graphing Calculators.

What should I do if a TI-89/TI-92/Voyage 200 locks up with ER_throw on the display?

The error message, ER_throw, is usually an indication of a corrupt assembly program stored in the memory of the calculator. Resetting the calculator should correct this issue. The reset procedure will delete all stored programs and data and should return the calculator to its default settings.

TI-89 or TI-89 Titanium Reset Procedure

• Press and hold the [2nd] key and the left and right arrow keys.

• While holding these keys, press and release the [ON] key.

TI-92, TI-92 Plus, or Voyage 200 Reset Procedure

• Press and hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key.

• While holding these keys, press and release the [ON] key.

The calculator will flash off then come back on.

Please see the TI-89 family, TI-92 family and Voyage 200 guidebooks for additional information.
