Activity Overview
The students will construct an Euler line and demonstrate it is an Euler line by "wiggling" the triangle to guarantee the correct centers remain on the line.
Before the Activity
The students will have studied the circumcenter, the incenter, the centroid and the orthocenter. They will have constructed them using compass and straightedge.
During the Activity
The students will construct all the centers of an acute triangle and then by trial and error find the Euler line and determine which three centers will always lie on the Euler line by performing the "wiggle" test.
After the Activity
The teacher will monitor the process using the TI Navigator system. The teacher will collect the finished drawings from the student calculators and test them for accuracy.
