Ratios, which are distinct from fractions, are typically noted in the form a:b, which is the ratio of a to b. The ratio of two quantities a and b is written as a:b or as b:a.
Prior to working on this lesson, students should understand:
- the concept of equivalent numbers;
- how to compare numbers;
- the concepts of multiplication and division.
