Activity Overview
This activity uses distance measures to investigate the relationship between a point in the plane and the distance to the endpoints of a segment. Students will investigate the implication these relationships have for the position of the point in the plane.
Before the Activity
Install the Cabri: Jr. App on the students' graphing calculators using TI-Connect™, a TI Connectivity Cable and the Unit-to-Unit Link Cable
Use the TI-Navigator™ to transfer the attached Cabri Jr. AppVar files to each calculator

During the Activity
Distribute the pages to your class.
Follow the Activity procedures:
Construct a segment, its perpendicular bisector, and a point not on the segment
Observe the relationship between the distance of the point from the endpoints of the segment, when the point is at various locations both on and off the perpendicular bisector
After the Activity
Review student results:
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
