Algebra 1: Raise Your Cup

by Texas Instruments - Bell Ringer Lesson

Overview

Students investigate inequalities applied to to volume and perimeter.

Key Steps

  • Image

Students will explore writing and graphing inequalities. Students will solve inequalities to determine the height for a cup that needs to hold at least 12 ounces. They will use a trial and error method, entering values into the table to compute their range of answers.

Students will also find the lengths of a rectangle whose perimeter cannot be longer than 38 inches using the Y= screen and table. They will follow up the problems with graphing the answer on a number line.
