Data Collection With the TI-84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator in High School Mathematics and Science

Designed for educators who want to learn more about the data collection features of the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, this workshop offers hands-on explorations demonstrating effective classroom use of the technology in high school mathematics and science classrooms.

You’ll become familiar with the TI-84 Plus CE by working through classroom-ready activities that use the calculator — along with data collection devices such as the CBL™ 2 data collection device, the CBR™ 2 motion sensor, and the Vernier EasyLink® interface — to enhance student understanding and problem-solving.

Overview

This in-person workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. The two- and three-day workshops offer a more extensive exploration of topics. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

workshop-1-day
  • Overview of the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator.
  • Collection, modeling and analysis of bivariate data by entering data into lists, creating scatter plots, and calculating linear regressions.
  • Interpretation and application of mathematical models to predict future outcomes.
workshop-2-day
  • Introduction to data collection and analysis with the CBR™ 2 motion sensor and Vernier EasyData® app.
  • Modeling and analysis of univariate data with box plots, histograms and measures of central tendency.
  • Additional coverage of modeling with numeric, algebraic and graphical representations.
workshop-3-day
  • Data collection and analysis with the Vernier Voltage Sensor, Vernier EasyTemp® sensor and light sensor.
  • Modeling and analysis of relationships between variables with exponential and power functions.
  • Opportunities to explore TI Connect™ CE software application and TI-SmartView™ CE emulator software for the TI-84 Plus graphing family.
