Teaching and Learning With TI-Nspire™ CX Technology in Algebra

Designed for educators who are using TI-Nspire™ CX technology, this workshop introduces the TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator and TI-Nspire™ CX Premium Teacher Software in the context of algebra I and algebra II in a high school mathematics curriculum, with some coverage of algebra I in a middle grades mathematics curriculum.

Learn a wide range of TI-Nspire™ CX technology skills, and explore how to effectively integrate Math Nspired activities into your middle grades or high school algebra classroom. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be comfortable using premade TI-Nspire™ Documents and have basic skills in graphing, geometry and other applications of TI-Nspire™ CX technology.

Overview

This in-person workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. The two- and three-day workshops offer a more extensive exploration of topics. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld, including general calculator, graphing and statistical functionality.
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons focused on slope, bivariate data, quadratics, domain and range.
  • Introduction to basic features of the teacher software.
workshop-2-day
  • Coverage of expressions, equations, functions and modeling with multiple representations.
  • Exploration of online resources and formative assessment documents with the teacher software.
  • Opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ subject areas and needs.
workshop-3-day
  • Wider curriculum coverage, including families of functions and systems of equations and inequalities.
  • Introduction to data collection and analysis with the CBR™ 2 motion sensor.
  • Additional opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ subject areas and needs.

This workshop focuses on appropriate use of the TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator and teacher software, with an emphasis on numeric, algebraic, geometric and statistical functionality through dynamic, interactive lessons across an algebra curriculum.
