Leveraging TI-Nspire™ CX Technology for SAT®
Test Success

This workshop is designed for mathematics educators who want to learn to leverage TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator skills to drive student success on the SAT® test.

Educators will cover the main topics of the SAT® test, discuss strategies for helping students to better understand key content and emphasize techniques for teaching with TI-Nspire™ CX technology.

By the end of the workshop, participants should feel comfortable with:

  • Leveraging the TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator in key categories such as algebra, problem-solving, data and statistics, and functions
  • Highlighting the key content areas for the test and adjusting mathematics instruction accordingly
  • Implementing test preparation strategies in the mathematics classroom and using premade activities that reinforce technology skills and deepen student understanding of key topics

Overview

This in-person workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. The two- and three-day workshops offer more extensive exploration of topics and strategies. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

workshop-1-day
  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator and basic skills
  • Exploration of key topics such as graphing functions, solving systems and solving equations
  • Coverage of strategies such as thinking graphically, eliminating incorrect answers, solving problems by working backwards, and substitution
workshop-2-day
  • Additional coverage of TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator skills, including inequalities and circles
  • Coverage of further topics such as rate of change, line of best fit, graphing inequalities and transformations
  • Exploration of other test-prep strategies including using structure, avoiding distractors and making a table
workshop-3-day
  • Continued application of TI-Nspire™ CX graphing calculator skills, including 1-variable stats
  • Content topics will extend to advanced areas such as absolute value, trigonometry and probability
  • Test strategies will be summarized and additional ones covered, including sketching graphs
