STEM Investigations Using TI-Nspire™ Technology

Designed for middle grades and high school science and mathematics classrooms, this workshop explores STEM content focused on experimental and engineering design, data collection and analysis and mathematical modeling with TI-Nspire™ technology. Quantitative investigations, analyses and simulations involving TI-Nspire™ technology will be used to define problems and develop solutions. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have experience using TI-Nspire™ handhelds and software to put STEM practices into action in their classrooms.

Overview

This in-person workshop is available in one -and two-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. The two-day workshop offers a more extensive exploration of topics. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

workshop-1-day
  • Introduce the STEM practices in the context of experimental and engineering design.
  • Review essential TI-Nspire™ skills, including data collection and analysis with the Vernier EasyTemp® USB temperature sensor, Calculator-Based Ranger 2™ (CBR 2) motion sensor and Vernier DataQuest™ application for TI-Nspire™ technology.
  • Apply STEM practices to design, test and evaluate a parachute.
workshop-2-day
  • Introduce dynamic interactive simulations from Science Nspired.
  • Model data from simulations mathematically.
  • Design a better football helmet, test various designs using the Dual-Range Force Sensor and use mathematical models to determine the most effective design.
