- Explore creative and cool essential ideas to utilize the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator and its color version, the TI-84 Plus CE, much more effectively.
- Get an overview of the TI-84 Plus CE along with the basic computation, graphing and functionality, and discover how this member of the TI-84 Plus graphing family is different than previous versions.
- Learn how to easily use the TI-84 Plus CE as an evaluator of complex expressions, trace on a graph and table simultaneously, quickly evaluate the quadratic formula, store window settings, quickly investigate transformation graphing with lists, and more.
- Get tips on how to fully utilize the TI-SmartView™ software.
Session 2 | Developing Deeper Conceptual Understanding to Prepare for the Digital SAT® Exam With the TI-84 Plus CE
- Students who only excel at procedural fluency (i.e. memorizing steps and formulas) will have a tough time on the math section of the redesigned SAT® exam. They need a deeper understanding of the concepts. Learn to leverage the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator to help meet this goal by providing activities and ideas that promote conceptual understanding.
Session 3 | Exploring Topics in Precalculus With the TI-84 Plus CE: Polynomial and Rational Functions
- Learn the makeup of an Advanced Placement® course and, in particular, what is important to know about AP® Precalculus.
- Explore insights about the exam and ways TI technology can be useful, such as helping students:
- Develop both procedural and conceptual fluency.
- Interpret and connect multiple representations.
- Get engaged in interpreting and reasoning about mathematical concepts and relationships.
- Discover how TI technology can also deepen student understanding of rate of change, end behavior, asymptotes and function transformations.
- Strategies for engaging students in these mathematical practices for AP® Precalculus will be shared during the four sessions in the AP® Precalculus strand.
Session 4 | Valuable Tips for Using TI-Nspire™ CX II Technology (Calculator and Software)
- Get an overview of TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator, including general calculator, graphing and statistical functionality.
- Explore dynamic and interactive lessons for algebra I and algebra II, geometry, precalculus and calculus, and statistics.
- Learn the basic features of the TI-Nspire™ CX Premium Teacher Software.

Session 5 | Exploring Middle Grades Topics With the TI-84 Plus Family of Graphing Calculators
- Learn about the features for modeling with multiple representations.
- Explore interactive lessons that make connections between ratios, proportional relationships and linear functions.
Session 6 | Analyzing and Interpreting Data in a Vertical Curriculum With the TI-84 Plus CE
Join this session as we explore how the topics below can help students move through a vertical curriculum, from middle grades math through algebra II and beyond, including:
- Analyzing and interpreting univariate data: Representing data with dot plots, box and whisker plots, histograms; comparing center and spread of data sets.
- Use of the mean and standard deviation to fit a data set into a normal distribution, including qualitative and quantitative data, and comparing sets of data and identifying outliers.
- Interpreting bivariate data: Represent bivariate data on a scatter plot, describe the relationship, and interpret the slope and intercept of a linear model in the context of the data.
Session 7 | Exploring Topics in Precalculus With the TI-84 Plus CE: Exponential Functions, Logarithmic Functions and Regression
- Learn how the TI-84 Plus CE is used to investigate the relationship between exponential and logarithmic functions, inverse and composite functions, and the concept of regression as a way to find a model for contextual data.
Session 8 | Integrating TI Technology for Emergent Bilinguals
- "¿Cómo se usa esto?" Learn how activities and video resources can be integrated in an ELL/ESL classroom when using the TI-84 Plus CE Python or TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculators.

Session 9 | Building Concepts: Statistics and Probability With TI-Nspire™ CX Family of Graphing Calculators
- Designed for middle grades mathematics educators who are beginning with or already using TI-Nspire™ CX technology, this workshop focuses on strategies for engaging students in new ways of visualizing and thinking about statistics and probability.
- Connect mathematical concepts through a coherent story within and across grades, and in the vertical alignment of concepts.
- Leverage technology to enhance visualization in support of learning and developing concepts.
- Implement effective teaching practices to support developing concepts and empower learners to drive the conversation by asking and answering questions of others.
Session 10 | Advanced Tips With the TI-84 Plus CE: Data Collection in Science and Math Classrooms
- Get an overview of the TI-84 Plus CE, including data collection with the Vernier EasyTemp® sensor and CBR™ 2 motion sensor.
- Explore data analysis through the development of mathematical models.
Session 11 | Exploring Topics in Precalculus With the TI-84 Plus CE: Trigonometric and Polar Functions
- Use the TI-84 Plus CE to develop understanding of concepts related to the trigonometric functions and make the connection to polar coordinates.
Session 12 | Learning to Code With the TI-Innovator™ Hub (and the TI-84 Plus and TI-Nspire™ CX Families of Graphing Calculators)
- This session is designed for educators interested in introducing coding to their students using the TI-Innovator™ Hub.
- Expand on the lessons featured in TI’s 10 Minutes of Code to excite students in learning the code to control the TI-Innovator™ Hub and its built-in sensors, including light and sound.
- Engage your students with the latest technology, preparing them for the next stage to explore real-world STEM applications.
3:00 – 4:30 p.m. | Second afternoon sessions
Session 13 | Exploring Algebra Topics With the TI-84 Plus CE
Utilizing the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator, we will explore topics such as:
- Linear functions
- Systems of linear equations
- Functions and relations
- Quadratic, exponential, radical and rational functions
- Probability
Session 14 | Exploring Topics in Statistics With the TI-84 Plus CE
- Explore STAT functions to determine critical values, p-values and more, as well as DISTRIBUTION functions for normal distributions, binomial distributions and others.
- Review premade activities available on the TI Education Technology website that help students get a deeper understanding of some basic topics in statistics.
Session 15 | Topics in Calculus With the TI-Nspire™ CX II Graphing Calculator
- Explore topics focused on teaching calculus with TI-Nspire™ CX technology, including:
- Tangent line approximations.
- The relationship between a function and its derivatives.
- The relationship between integration and the area between a curve and x-axis.
- Discuss strategies to prepare students for the AP® Calculus exam.
Session 16 | Making Math and Science Meaningful With the TI-Innovator™ Rover
This session is designed for teachers interested in introducing the Rover to their students. Explore lessons that feature topics to get students engaged with this exciting technology, such as:
- The relationship between distance, rate and time.
- Designing and measuring a segmented path.
This session includes both TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ CX families of graphing calculators.
