2023 Virtual T³IC: AP® Calculus: Particle Motion in the Plane

When: Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023
Technology: TI-Nspire™ CX II and TI-84 Plus CE graphing families
Presenters: Tom Dick, Ph.D., Steve Kokoska

This presentation will begin with a brief review of the connection between vector functions and particle motion.

Several problems will be discussed involving velocity, acceleration, speed, tangent lines, distance traveled, and new positions. Each will be solved analytically where possible, and using technology.

Both the TI-Nspire™ CX and TI-84 Plus CE graphing families will be utilized. We will also discuss the BC particle motion problem from the 2022 BC AP® Calculus exam, how it was scored, the use of technology, and tips for earning points.
