AP® Precalculus Unit 3: Building Sinusoidal Models and Polar Graphs

When: Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 | 7 p.m. Central time
Technology: TI-84 Plus family, TI‑Nspire™ CX technology
Presenters: Gail Burrill, Rachael Gorsuch

Repeated pattern phenomena are all around us in our everyday world.

In this webinar, the presenters will discuss several scenarios with periodic or repeating patterns by:

  • Considering a trigonometric function that could model the phenomenon.
  • Describing characteristics of the model such as amplitude, vertical shift, period and phase shift.
  • Looking at a data set and performing a sinusoidal regression.
  • Making predictions from the regression equation.
The presenters will also look at how a rectangular, sinusoidal graph is related to a polar graph.
