STEM and Coding Projects for After Exams

When: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 | 7 p.m. Central time
Technology: TI-84 Plus family, TI‑Nspire™ CX Technology
Presenters: Jessica Kohout, Stacy Thibodeaux

Looking for activities for after exams?

Take a few weeks to encourage your students to try a little STEM and coding.

If you find you have some time between mid-May and the end of the school year, this is a great chance to engage middle and high school students to build real-world projects that are controlled with code. No coding experience? No problem! Through helpful videos and easy-to-follow student/teacher notes, students can get up to speed in no time, all while learning some foundational coding concepts. If you don’t have TI equipment, the TI STEM team has a loaner program to help.*

Students can create their own music, learn how to help the world use water efficiently, or build a working car alarm that protects a pet from heat stroke. Students will be motivated when they can use their own creativity to solve real problems with code.

"(I liked how the presenters) introduced and explored the ways technology can be integrated into classrooms. Presenters shared how they aren't engineering teachers but because of the provided curriculum and supports they are confidently able to provide these hands-on opportunities." — LaWanda King-Butler, King Academy (Florida)
