What’s the Big Idea? Explore Calculus on the First Day of Class With TI Technology

The course and exam description for AP® Calculus list three big ideas: Limits, Analysis of Functions and Change.

Students enter the course with knowledge of each of these ideas. Using technology, teachers can explore these ideas along the concepts of the derivative and the definite integral on the first day of class.

Presenters will explore activities utilizing both TI-84 Plus CE and TI-Nspire™ technology which:

  • Engage students in review of important precalculus topics
  • Reinforce essential calculator skills while connecting multiple representations
  • Survey the year to come by previewing the key concepts of calculus
