How Do You Teach “Love” Around Valentine’s Day?

When: Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 | 7 p.m. Central time
Technology: TI-84 Plus family, TI-Nspire™ CX family
Presenters: Becky Byer, Becky Underwood

Are you looking for fun and interactive activities to engage your students around Valentine’s Day? This webinar will demonstrate multiple coding activities that require students to problem-solve to create a “valentine.” Coding, learning and fun — what a great Valentine’s Day combination.

During this webinar, presenters will:

  • Introduce coding of random colors and a simple shape on the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator
  • Code a “Simple Heart” on the TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator (sequential structure)
  • Code a “Beating Heart” (repetition structure)
  • Code a “Dancing Heart” (more repetition)
  • Provide examples of other activities that could be used in conjunction with Valentine’s Day

Activities will be presented using either the TI-84 Plus CE or TI-Nspire™ CX II graphing calculator. All activities are compatible on both platforms.

“I liked how they explained the program commands. For those of us that are new to programming, that was particularly helpful.” — Jennifer Young, McDowell County Schools (North Carolina)
