Solution 40404: Performing Vector Calculations in Polar Form Using the TI-84 Plus CE.

How do I perform vector calculations in Polar form using the TI-84 Plus CE?

The example below will demonstrate how to perform vector calculations in Polar form using the TI-84 Plus CE.

NOTE: For this example, the mode settings will need to be changed.

• Press [MODE] and verify [Radian] mode is set. If not use the arrow keys to select [Radian] then press [Enter]
• Next verify the complex mode [re^(θi)] mode is set. If not use the arrow keys to select [re^(θi)] then press [Enter]
• Press [CLEAR] to return to the home screen

Example: Add 12∠40° + 30∠67°.

• Press [1] [2] [2ND] [ex].
• Press [4] [0] [Angle] [1:°].
• Press [2ND] [i].
• If in MATH PRINT mode, press [►] to begin new input. If in CLASSIC mode, press [ ) ] to begin new input.

• Press [+].
• Press [3] [0].
• Press [2ND] [i].
• If in MATH PRINT mode, press [►] to finish the input. If in CLASSIC mode, press [ ) ] to finish the input.
• Press [ENTER] to display a result of 41.05514216e^1.036281249i. This result displays the angle as a radian angle since you are in radian mode.
• To convert the radian angle to a degree result take the angle part 1.036281249 and multiply it by (180/π) which will display the degree angle of 59.37454196
