Solution 13325: Using the fMax() Function on the TI-83 Family, TI-84 Plus Family, and TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus Mode.

How do I use the fMax() function on the TI-83 family, TI-84 Plus family, and TI-Nspire in TI-84 Plus mode?

The fMax() function returns the value of variable where the local maximum of expression occurs, between lower and upper bounds, with specified tolerance. The syntax for the fMax() function is listed below.

fMax(expression, variable, lower, upper[,tolerance])

Reference the example provided below.

Example: Find the function maximum of sin(A), for the variable A, with -p for the lower bound and p for the upper bound.

1) From the main screen press [MATH] [7] .
2) Press [SIN] [ALPHA] [A] [)] [,] [ALPHA] [A] [,].
3) Press [(-)] [2ND] [p] [,] [2ND] [p] [)].
