What does the error message "The software you are installing has not passed Windows® Logo testing" mean when installing the TI Connect software using a TI Connectivity Kit USB cable?

Some versions of the TI Connect software may display the following error message during installation:

The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility.

Continuing the installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft® strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Logo testing.

This message indicates that the driver for the Silver USB Cable for Windows®/Mac® or Standard-A to Mini-B USB Connectivity Cable has not been tested by Microsoft® for compatibility with the Windows® operating system. While this error message indicates that Microsoft® has not checked this driver for compatibility, it has been tested by Texas Instruments to work under most hardware configurations.
