Solution 26112: Texas Instruments Software Compatibility Using Disk Imaging, Disk Cloning, and Disk Ghosting.

What is the level of compatibility of Texas Instruments software when used in conjunction with Disk Imaging, Disk Cloning, and Disk Ghosting?

Disk Imaging, Disk Cloning, and Disk Ghosting all refer to the same process which is creating a copy of all software on a single computer and duplicating this information onto other computers. It allows for quicker installation and configuration of multiple computers.

Listed below are our different licensing options and their compatibility with disk imaging:

Account-Based Subscription

Account-Based Subscription software requires the user to login and this needs to take place after the disk image has been deployed to the individual computers. Because of when login occurs there is no method available to include an Account-Based Subscription as part of a disk image.

A user can login after the disk image has been deployed as long as the user has internet access.

Please be advised this license types listed below will be discontinued on November 7, 2023, and the software will no longer be updated. Converting to a new, account-based license before that date is recommended. In most cases you can receive an equivalent subscription length free of charge by contacting TI-Cares.

For now, you may still activate and use your current software for the full license term, but you will not be able to reactivate or download this software again after November 7. If a new activation or download is needed after that date, you must contact TI-Cares to acquire a new account-based subscription.

Single User License

Single user licenses activation needs to take place after the disk image has been deployed to the individual computers and as such no method currently available to include the single user licenses within a disk image.

A user can activate individually after the disk image has been deployed by following the normal activation procedure as long as the user has administrative access and internet access.

Volume License

Volume license requires that the activation take place after the disk image has been deployed to the individual computers and as such no method currently available to include the volume licenses within a disk image.

A user can activate individually after the disk image has been deployed by following the normal activation procedure as long as the user has administrative access and internet access.

School Managed License (SML) and Concurrent License

SML and concurrent license information can be included on the master image during the disk imaging process and requires no scripts or special steps for the software to work.

To include SML and concurrent information in the Disk Imaging Process please follow the steps below:

• Download the settings.properties file from the Software Service Center onto the master image computer.
• Once downloaded you need to edit the below lines in the settings.properties file:

Please Note: Below are the only items that are required however other items can be configured.

LICENSE_SERVER_1=[Hostname of Computer that TI-Admin is installed on]
LICENSE_SERVER_2=[IP Address of Computer that TI-Admin is installed on]

• Once the settings.properties file has been edited, save the file, and then download and install the Texas Instruments software from the Software Service Center.
• Next place the settings.properties file in the location appropriate for your operating system which is listed below:

Windows®:

\ProgramData\[Name Of Software]\res\

macOS®:

\Library\Application Support\[Name Of Software]\res\

• After the above step launch the Texas Instruments software to verify the software checks out a license from the TI-Admin software.
• If the software launches without issue you can then deploy the master image to all your computers.

Multi-Activation License (MAL)

MAL license file can be placed in the license folder on the Master Image and then deployed to all computers. To include MAL information in the Disk Imaging Process please follow the steps below:

• First download and install the Texas Instruments software onto your master image. Make sure you download the software from the Software Service Center.
• Next download your MAL license file from the Software Service Center onto their master image computer.
• Once downloaded verify the name of the license file is [lservrc] and does not have an extension i.e. ".txt".
• Once the file is verified place the license file in the location listed in the Software Service Center download page.
• Attempt to run the software to verify the software the software launches without issue.
• If the software launches without issue you can deploy the master image to all their computers.
