Solution 12321: Difference Between [ (-) ] and [ - ] Keys on Two Line Elementary and Scientific Calculators.

What is the difference between the [ (-) ] and the [ - ] key on TI's elementary and two line scientific calculators?

There are two keys on TI's two line scientific calculators that appear to be similar. The [(-)] is the negate key, which is often mistakenly used as the subtraction key. The negation key converts a positive number into a negative number for the purpose of a particular calculation.

The [-] is a subtraction key which is used to subtract values in a calculation.
