Solution 12135: Error Invalid Polar Complex on the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Plus and Voyage™ 200.

Why do I get the error Invalid Polar Complex on my TI-89 family, TI-92 Plus or Voyage 200 graphing calculator?

The Invalid Polar Complex error message is displayed on a TI-89 family, TI-92 Plus and Voyage 200 graphing calculator when a calculation has been attempted with numbers that are not in the proper polar complex form. Refer to the tips provided below for inputting polar complex numbers.

Complex numbers can be entered in two different polar forms.

• reiq - Must be entered with the calculator in Radian mode. Inputting polar complex numbers while the calculator is in degree mode will trigger error messages to be displayed.

• rÐq - Must be entered with parenthesis (rÐq), or this will trigger error messages to be displayed.

Please see the TI-89 family, TI-92 family and Voyage 200 guidebooks for additional information.
