Solution 12089: Correcting the Error Message "Press I to Install Code" on the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Plus or Voyage™ 200 Graphing Calculators Using the TI Connect™ Software for Windows®.

How can I correct the error message "Press I to install code" on the TI-89 family, TI-92 Plus or Voyage 200 graphing calculators?

The error message, press I to install code, appears on the TI-89 family, TI-92 Plus and Voyage 200 when the unit has lost its operating system. In general, this situation only occurs as the result of interrupting the transfer of the operating system from a computer or another calculator once it has begun.

To correct the situation, remove one triple A battery, re-insert it and then press the letter I (the [9] key of the TI-89 family) so that "Waiting to receive" is displayed on the LCD. At this point, the operating system will need to be re-installed using a TI Connectivity cable and the TI Connect™ software.

Steps to re-installing the operating system:

• Connect the TI Connectivity cable between the PC and the calculator.
• Click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OSDownloader.
• Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall the calculator's OS.

Please see the TI-89 family, TI-92 family and Voyage 200 guidebooks for additional information.
