Solution 13326: Using the RandSeed Function on the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family and Voyage™ 200 Graphing Calculators.

How do I use the RandSeed function on the TI-89 family, TI-92 family and Voyage 200 graphing calculator?

The RandSeed function can be found under the Math menu and under Probability. The proper syntax for using the RandSeed function is listed below:

RandSeed number

The RandSeed function sets the seed value for the random-number generator functions rand(), randMat(), randNorm() and randPoly()) to number.

If number is = 0, the calculator sets the seeds to the factory for the random-number generator.
If number is ¹ 0, it is used to generate two seeds, which are stored in system variables seed1 and seed2.

Example:

1) Press [2nd][MATH], and arrow down to 7:Probability
2) Press the right arrow key and scroll down and select 6:RandSeed
3) Press [ENTER] and input [1][1][4][7] and press [ENTER].

Please see the TI-89 family, TI-92 family and Voyage 200 guidebooks for additional information.
