Solution 12062: Calculating Median-Median Regression Using the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage™ 200 Graphing Calculators.

How do I calculate a median-median regression using the TI-89 family, TI-92 family, and Voyage 200 graphing calculators?

The example below will demonstrate how to calculate a median-median regression for a given set of data using the TI-89 family, TI-92 family, and Voyage 200.

Data for this example:

X values = {5, 9, 20, 25, 30, 35, 41}
Y values = {4, 31, 42, 39, 20, 55, 73}

Solution:

1) Press [APPS] [6] [3] (If the Apps Desktop is on, press [APPS], select "Data/Matrix Editor", and press [3]).
2) Scroll down to "3:New" and press [ENTER].
3) In the box beside "Variable:", type a variable name using the alpha characters (e.g. TEST).
4) Press [ENTER] [ENTER].
5) Enter the X values under c1 and the Y values under c2.
6) Press [F5], then the right arrow, then [7].
7) Press the down arrow, then press [alpha] [C] [1] (indicates the X values are in C1).
8) Press the down arrow, then press [alpha] [C] [2] (indicates the Y values are in C2).
9) To graph the line, select an equation number after "Store ReEQ to..."

10) Press [ENTER] [ENTER].

A dialog box will appear with the median-median regression variables.
