Solution 11725: Computing the Cross Product on the TI-89 Family and Voyage™ 200 Graphing Calculators.

How do I calculate the cross product on TI-89 Family and Voyage 200 calculators?

The following instructions demonstrate how to compute the cross product using a TI-89 Family or Voyage 200 calculator:

For Example: Find the cross product of vectors <3, 5> and <-2, 8>

1) Turn the calculator ON and on the TI-89 Family press [HOME] and on the Voyage 200 press [Green Diamond][Q] (CALC HOME).
2) Press [2nd] [5], select 4:Matrix and press the [right arrow] key
3) Press [ALPHA] [L] and select 2:crossP( and press [ENTER].
4) Input [3,5],[-2,8].
5) Press [)] then [ENTER] for the result.

Please Note: Both vectors used with this command must be row vectors, or both must be column vectors. Both vectors must have equal dimension, and the dimension must be either 2 or 3.

Please see the TI-89 Titanium / Voyage 200 guidebook for additional information.
