Solution 11558: Determining the Accuracy of the Calculator-Based Ranger™ (CBR™).

What is the accuracy of the Calculator-Based Ranger (CBR)?

The accuracy of the CBR is 1% of its range.  The range of the CBR is .5m to 6m.  Below are a few examples that demonstrate this:

Example 1:
Measuring an object that is EXACTLY .5 m away
• Accuracy at this range is equal to +/- 1% of .5m (= .005m)
• The CBR could return data between .495m to .505m

Example 2:
• Measuring an object that is EXACTLY 2 m away
• Accuracy at this range is equal to +/- 1% of 2m (= .020m)
• The CBR could return data between 1.98m to 2.02

Example 3:
• Measuring an object that is EXACTLY 6 m away
• Accuracy at this range is equal to +/- 1% of 6m (= .060m)
• The CBR could return data between 5.94m to 6.06m
